Our Board

August Brower

August “Augie” Brower brings more than 25 years of leadership and planning experience to the TI board of directors. He believes firmly in servant leadership centered on Jesus Christ. Prior to his retirement in 2025, August served as the Chief of Strategic Engagement to US Transportation Command, where he served as an executive advisor to the Commander of US Transportation Command. I this role he shaped foreign policy decisions and spearheaded the formation of multi-national military logistics cooperation organizations to support the nation’s strategic goals.

Since retirement, Augie has focused on serving God through multiple church functions, including leading men’s bible study and being active in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. He is currently starting an agriculture business with his wife, Brandy, and their two sons.

Jeanette Laws

Jeanette Laws retired from Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, as IT Purchaser. Widowed for twenty-five years, Jeanette has two children, a son and a daughter, and three grandchildren. Jeanette has been part of Leadership at her church for forty-five years, serving as Church Treasurer for forty-five years and Sunday School Director for thirty-six years. Jeanette also served as volunteer at SAFE Family Ministries as Lead House Mom for 3 years and Treasurer for 2 years. She currently leads Women’s Ministry and serves with Disaster Relief. She enjoys gardening, short hikes and road trips with friends.

Dr. Sean-David J McGoran

Dr. Sean-David McGoran is a lifelong musician and a seasoned, passionate educator committed to making a difference in the community through TI Academy. Dr. McGoran holds a doctorate in leadership, and his doctoral project focused on recruiting and training an advisory board to serve the community through music education and therapy. He also holds an undergraduate degree from Berklee College of Music in Jazz Performance and a Master of Arts. In addition to teaching music for over 30 years, Dr. McGoran also teaches Leadership, Art & Culture, and Organizational Ethics, all in service as an adjunct faculty member for multiple universities.

Sam Wasson

Sam is a long-time dedicated music educator and has been a significant part of the academy and our work for years. Her Bachelor's in Music Therapy and experience as a music therapist and child care provider gives her a powerful and unique perspective on people and how music meets their various needs. Sam has planned, developed, and led classes and workshops of her own in tandem with peers, as well as educated and counseled children of all ages. Sam is a careful, considerate, and passionate leader who loves the Olympia community and hopes to advance the mission of bringing music education to everyone.
